From The President - Our April Fool’s Fest:

The April Fool’s Fest is a unique opportunity to encourage fund raising and giving in the community with the support of a local business. Because it is an unusual fundraising event – designed and put on by a business for another organization, we do like to give some background on the event.

The April Fool's Fest is put on with partial donations from vendors and contributions from Birchwood Manor of North Bend.  The event itself is usually "break even" as far as Birchwood Manor's actual cost and the money captured at the door and drink sales - but by Birchwood Manor supplying the materials and the staff for the event, it enables the "fund raising effort" to happen for a designated local beneficiary.

Birchwood generally sets a donation goal that we are comfortable supporting.  With this, Birchwood Manor commits to that donation amount, regardless of whether there is any actual income from the event.  Any donation beyond that amount is based on the money taken at the door that exceeds our cost for the event.  In a "good year" with high attendance numbers we can exceed that donation. The highest amount raised was $2,600 for the North Bend Library building project.

This year, Birchwood Manor commits to donate $1,500 to the purchase of playground equipment for the North Bend Central Elementary School playground (North/East play area).  This has been identified as a need by the elementary students and teachers and will benefit those attending the elementary school.  We will also contribute any funds taken in at the April Fools Fest that exceed the cost of the event.

To offer further understanding of what we actually hope to accomplish each year through the April Fool's Fest.......

Our goals in the event are as follows:
1.  To allow a local Organization to gain public recognition of their plans / efforts through the event by having materials and information present.
2.  To further the recognition of the Organization and their efforts through Birchwood Manor's paid advertising, press releases, and overall marketing of the event.
3.  To provide the community and surrounding area with an opportunity to "be involved" in an effort that benefits the community / surrounding area; and understand the value of "giving" to the organizations and communities.
4.  To allow Birchwood Manor a means of reaching the community in a way that demonstrates our unique approach to everything we do; our Mission of having a "positive influence on each life we touch;" and our ability to view everything in life as a reason to "Celebrate."
5.  To allow Birchwood Manor staff the opportunity to see their impact on the community and surrounding area through the fundraising efforts, as well as the feedback received from the community on the night of that event.

I hope this provides you with helpful background information on our April Fool’s Fest. We appreciate any assistance you may be able to offer in promoting the event.

Sincerely;

Pamela Griffin
